Ki-Chan Oh Appointed as Advisory Counsel to the Korean Association of Appraisers
On April 2, Tong was appointed as counsel to the Korea Association of Appraisers and Valuers, and will advise on the appraisal system and related laws based on the Act on Appraisal and Appraisers. He will advise on the association's policies, review and amend legislation to improve the system, protect members' rights and interests, and respond to complex disputes. Mr. Oh has accumulated legal experience in the criminal, administrative, and judicial fields through his experience as a deputy prosecutor, prosecutorial researcher, and the Supreme Court Sentencing Commission. Based on this experience, he plans to provide a wide range of practical and policy advice, including reviewing regulatory, ethical, and qualification standards, analyzing legal issues in appraisal standards and appraisal reports, providing contract law advice related to standard contracts and fee structures, responding to disciplinary proceedings and litigation, establishing internal regulations and a conflict of interest prevention and compliance system, assisting with consultations with related organizations and collective dispute resolution, and preparing educational materials and legal guidelines for members. Mr. Oh said that the appointment is a recognition of the expertise and credibility of Law Firm Tong, and expressed his intention to contribute to institutional stabilization and protection of members' rights and interests through public and professional legal services.
